![]() It does have a learning curve and the kids were frustrated at first, but we eventually got the hang of it. The Atmosflare 3D pen has been lots of fun to use and I can see us using it a lot more in the future. A much better option that building a full sized chair. By doing this, we were able to get a more accurate idea of how this chair design would work in the real world. The Atmosflare 3D pens allowed us to create some objects, such as this chair, so that we could study it better. We’ve, also, been learning about design and function. ![]() He demonstrated that he was learning by creating a giraffe and a small tree with a 3D pen. He’s been learning about the different organisms that live in difference ecosystems and why. We have been studying ecosystems with Nancy Larson Science with my son. Then, the only limit is your imagination. You can start by choosing from 12 different colors of ink. There are so many options when it comes to creating with the Atmosflare 3D pen. My first thoughts about 3D pens were “Wow! That’s cool!” But when my initial geeky fangirl response wore off, I started thinking about how we could use one in our homeschool – science modeling, experiments, and art. The ability to take drawings and lift them off the paper and make them have 3 dimensions seemed incredible to me. (The predecessors to the Atmosflare were a bit pricey.) Nevertheless, I was dying to try one out. I’ve been drooling over 3D pens for a while and, until now, I never thought I’d be able to afford one. Recently, we were sent an Atmosflare 3D pen to try out. Our latest tool to help the kids demonstrate what they have learned is the 3D pen. They have, also, designed experiments to show they understand a concept and to test their ideas further. In the past, the kids have used clay models of hearts and neurons to show structure and how each works. I feel even better when they can show me what they have learned and how it applies to the real world. This shows that they have understood the lesson. I feel I am successful as a home educator when my children/students can explain what they have learned to me in their own words. The Refills are about $5.99.I was given an Atmosflare 3D pen for review purposes and was compensated for writing this post. I don’t know how long the Ink Refill Cartridge is, but I suppose that it is enough to fit in there. You can get it for a pretty low price for about $29.99 on the Order AtmosFlare site. My daughter is a much more talented artist and could do this eventually, and it probably wouldn’t take her too long to be at this level. This is why I am concluding with this final shot, which I definitely did not do. There is no question that there is a lot that can be done with the AtmosFlare 3D pen. There are times when it is easy to wipe the residue off and start over when the gun jams, and this can happen due to user error. It might look a little skewed in some places, but this is due to it can be difficult to master getting the gel out. Once the plastic is out, you shine the ultraviolet light on it, and it will harden.Īs you can see, it is possible to make 3D shapes like a rectangular solid, like what is being shown in the picture on the right. She showed me that the way the AtmosFlare works is that you load up an ink refill cartridge, and you squeeze it out to get the liquid plastic, through one of the few tips provided. I learned that trick from my daughter, who had a chance to try it out. You can’t exactly draw on the air, but it is possible to make a solid base, and the create something from that. The way that these products work involve drawing out with liquid plastic. Okay, that was probably going too far, but I’m guessing that there will be more than two brands of this 3D Drawing Pen. Today, I got a chance to try out the AtmosFlare, and I’m going to recommend it and not the 3Doodler out of spite alone. I have been trying for about two years to obtain a review unit of this product, but they did not respond to me. I don’t know if you have heard of a pen known as the 3Doodler, but it is a 3D drawing pen.
